Changing the Narrative to Harvests of Plenty

Support the end of food scarcity in Haiti

A solution for Haiti’s food scarcity crisis is a return to agriculture.  Haiti’s land is nutrient rich and well qualified to grow a wide variety of grains, fruits, vegetables, and coffee.  Since 2017, we have been working to reestablish farms and gardens in Haiti’s southern peninsula that Hurricane Matthew destroyed.  Over the last several years, we have seen a comeback of crops growing even stronger than before.  From tomatoes and watermelons, to coffee and peppers, the farmers are tasting the sweet fruits of their labor!  Their produce is being sold in local markets, and we are preparing to help them secure contracts with grocery stores and guest houses in the nearby city of Jeremie.

Neighboring villages have caught on to this agricultural excitement and they want in!  We would love to expand our agricultural equipment and training to more farmers and villages.  We invite you to be part of this exciting work!

Investing in agriculture means FOOD for the hungry, FINANCES for the poor, and FREEDOM for families!

In addition to planting gardens of fruits and vegetables, we are also working with farmers to replant coffee on the mountaintops. Haiti was once a major exporter of coffee.  Other crops alleviate hunger, but the coffee crop provides the farmer with economic stability to fix their house, provide for their family, pay for medical needs, and send their children to school.  Together with our farmers, we have replanted over 400,000 coffee trees in the mountains around Jeremie. Our farmers have a direct buyer, ensuring they are paid a fair price for their hard work.  You can learn more and sip your own cup of Haitian coffee by visiting: Avanticoffeecompany.com
