A solution for Haiti’s food scarcity crisis is a return to agriculture. Haiti’s land is nutrient rich and well qualified to grow a wide variety of grains, fruits, vegetables, and coffee. Since 2017, we have been working to reestablish farms and gardens in Haiti’s southern peninsula that Hurricane Matthew destroyed. Over the last several years, we have seen a comeback of crops growing even stronger than before. From tomatoes and watermelons, to coffee and peppers, the farmers are tasting the sweet fruits of their labor! Their produce is being sold in local markets, and we are preparing to help them secure contracts with grocery stores and guest houses in the nearby city of Jeremie.
Neighboring villages have caught on to this agricultural excitement and they want in! We would love to expand our agricultural equipping and training to more farmers and villages. We invite you to be part of this exciting work!
A generous donor has offered a dollar-for-dollar matching grant of up to $10,000 towards our agriculture program! For a limited time, your donation could be MATCHED, doubling your impact on farmers in Haiti! *The matching grant opportunity expires Saturday, April 30th.
